A dental crown at our practice costs from 15,600 RSD for metal-ceramic to 30,000 RSD for metal-free, and a crown on an implant 33,000 RSD. The final amount depends on what the tooth needs before the crown: root canal treatment, a post and core or a temporary crown. Metal-free crowns made digitally are usually ready two to three days after the teeth are scanned. You receive the exact price and timeline with the treatment plan, after the examination.
How much does a dental crown cost?
The price depends on the type of crown. These are the prices per tooth from our price list:
| Type of crown | Price per tooth |
|---|---|
| Metal-ceramic crown | 15,600 RSD |
| Metal-free crown | 30,000 RSD |
| Crown on an implant | 33,000 RSD |
| Temporary crown | 2,400 RSD |
| Temporary crown, laboratory-made | 3,600 RSD |
How metal-free and metal-ceramic crowns differ, and when we choose which, is explained in metal-free or metal-ceramic crown.
What decides the final price of a crown?
The final price depends on what the tooth needs before it gets a crown and on how many teeth are treated. The items most often added are:
- root canal treatment, if the tooth needs it: 8,000 RSD for one canal, 10,000 for two and 14,000 for three;
- a post and core, when too little of the tooth is left to hold a crown: cast post or FRC post, 7,000 RSD each;
- removing an old crown: 1,200 RSD;
- a temporary crown, worn while the permanent one is made.
A bridge consists of several crowns, so its price is counted per unit. A crown on an implant comes with the implant placement and the abutment, which we describe on the implantology page.
That is why we cannot give a final amount without an examination. After it you receive a treatment plan with pricing, in writing, and for more complex work usually several possible plans.
How long does it take to make a crown?
With digital production, metal-free crowns are usually ready two to three days after the teeth are scanned. The digital workflow shortens what used to take weeks; read more on the digital dentistry page.
For other types of work, and when the tooth needs root canal treatment or a post first, we agree the timeline at the examination. A crown on an implant is made only once the implant has fused with the bone, which takes two to six months.
What does the process look like, step by step?
- Examination and X-ray. We assess the teeth and propose a treatment plan with prices and timelines.
- Preparing the tooth. If needed, the tooth is treated or built up with a post. It is then shaped only as much as the crown requires.
- Impression. We scan the teeth with a 3Shape intraoral scanner or take a conventional impression, depending on the type of work. A digital scan takes a few minutes and needs no impression material.
- Temporary crown or try-in prototype. While the permanent work is made, a temporary crown protects the tooth. For aesthetic work you can wear a try-in prototype and check how it looks in everyday life.
- Making the crown.
- Cementing and check-up. We check the fit and the bite, and at check-ups that everything sits as it should.
What do you wear while you wait for the crown?
While the permanent crown is being made, you wear a temporary crown on the prepared tooth. It protects the tooth and lets you eat and speak normally. For metal-free crowns made digitally that is usually only two to three days.
What decides how long a crown lasts?
How long a crown lasts depends on hygiene, regular check-ups and whether the material suits its position in the mouth. For metal-free crowns, with good hygiene and regular check-ups, that is as a rule ten years or more. The ceramic does not change colour over time.
Can everything be done in one visit to Belgrade?
For metal-free crowns and veneers it often can, because they are usually ready two to three working days after the scan. Patients who live abroad send us a panoramic X-ray before they travel and receive a proposed treatment plan and a cost estimate by email. For more complex work you receive the exact number of visits and days with the treatment plan, before you travel. How this works in practice is described on the dental tourism page.
